Dental Assisting
Case School of Dental Medicine is pleased to announce the expansion of the dental auxiliary programs. Beginning August 7, 2006, there will be a dental assisting program. Over the past year two important events have occurred, the first event is the dental assisting program has received “Initial Accreditation” through the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. The second addition is the university has formally recognized the dental assisting program, which entitles the enrollees who qualify, are eligible for financial aid.
The dental assisting program is a one-year full time Monday through Friday, day program, which includes a 300-hour non-paid externship. Through the program the dental assistant learns practical experience that will be essential in the work place. The dental assisting students will do clinical rotations in the various dental clinics on the campus of the dental school and one clinical rotation off campus. The dental assisting students will be eligible to take the National Dental Assisting Board.
There is a national shortage for dental assistants and the demand is high for trained, team orientated, and a self-starters. In the Greater Cleveland area there is a need for a quality dental assistants in the practice setting.
The Dental field is interesting and ever changing. The Case School of Dental Medicine is on the cutting edge of research and laboratory facilities that are very beneficial to the student and the dental community.
