Gift to Fund ‘Henry Schein Patient Welcome Center’
Henry Schein, Inc., the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to the dental industry, has made a $1 million gift to the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine’sDiscovering the Future of Dental Medicine fundraising campaign. In keeping with its longstanding partnership with the dental school, Henry Schein, Inc. is well known for its commitment to advancing wellness and building capacity in the delivery of health services.
With a goal of $32 million, Discovering the Future of Dental Medicine is the largest and most comprehensive fundraising campaign in the dental school’s history—it is a component of CWRU’s university-wide $1 billion Forward Thinking campaign. Funds from the campaign will make possible a 36,000 square-foot, two-story addition to the dental school that will include a new research floor, renovation of current clinics, and expansion space for new clinical areas. In addition, it will provide critical operating assistance through the annual fund, student scholarships, research funding, and faculty support.
“The significance of this campaign for the future of our dental school is critical,” notes Dean Jerold Goldberg. “ It will provide the resources we need to continually enhance our program and facilities. This generous gift, combined with the encouragement we have received from CEO Stanley M. Bergman and the entire Schein team, serves as a true testament to our shared goal of providing not only the best possible oral health care, but access to it,” he adds.
A combination of cash and in-kind equipment, the donation will allow the school maximum flexibility as the renovations move forward, with groundbreaking anticipated in 2014. In recognition of Schein’s commitment, the remodeled patient reception area will be renamed the “Henry Schein Patient Welcome Center.” The gift is particularly important as an inspiration to alumni, friends, foundations, and other corporate partners whose additional support remains vital to the most significant expansion of the school since the opening of the current building in 1969.
We have a deep commitment to strengthening educational institutions that train the highest-quality health care personnel and to improving the capacity for healthcare facilities to provide high quality care for vulnerable populations. Giving back to society is at the core of our corporate culture and partnering with your dental school has long helped us to fulfill this mission.
