Homecoming: October 16-19, 2014

Dental School may seem like ages ago or it may feel like just yesterday that you were walking through the school on your way to class. Regardless of how you, and the world around you, has changed since graduation, your college experience is etched into your memory.

Your Alumni Association invites you to come home to CWRU for Homecoming, which pays tribute to the unique CWRU experience. Join us, and alumni from the entire university, for a dynamic weekend to see what has changed, what new things the dental school has to offer, and to catch up with classmates and friends you may not have seen since the day you graduated. Homecoming isn’t just for reunion classes—all members of our alumni community are welcome to come back to campus. We hope that you will accept our invitation to return, reconnect and reminisce at Homecoming, and that you will spread the word to your classmates and friends. We look forward to seeing you there.

A new tradition begins:

Celebrate your reunion as part of Homecoming. The Office of Development and Alumni Relations is more than happy to assist you in planning your reunion event to be held during Homecoming. Here are just some of the things we can do for you:

  • Provide you with class lists including addresses, phone numbers and email
  • Help promote your reunion event by publishing information on our website
  • Coordinate mailings and provide mailing materials
  • Offer ideas for locations and in some cases assist in arrangements
  • Take photographs at your event
  • Coordinate having the Dean attend your event
  • Assist in planning class gifts for reunion giving

Please contact Ms. Sara Fields at or 216.368.3924 for assistance in planning your reunion.

Make your reservations early--the discounted rate is available until Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

When is my registration due?
For planning purposes, please register by Friday, October 10th. You can register online or call our office at 877.468.1436.

What does my registration fee cover?
This $10 fee helps defray a small fraction of the costs associated with holding an event of this magnitude. To cover the costs associated with those events involving meals, beverages and other expenses, an additional fee may be required.

What's planned for Homecoming?
See the Schedule of Events on this page.

I'm not in a reunion class. Can I still attend the weekend?
Of course! Homecoming is for ALL alumni. Special events will be held for those celebrating a reunion.

How can I download a copy of the Homecoming Schedule of Events and Registration Form?
The dental school event schedule can be found above. All university events and the registration link will be available on the University's Homecoming page.

Can I just show up at Homecoming activities?
Though we will be prepared for a limited number of walk-in registrations, advance registration is strongly encouraged to hold your space at meals and to help have a more accurate idea of how many meals and alumni souvenirs to order. In addition, any special meal requests must be made by October 10th. Our ability to honor on-site special requests is extremely limited.

What if my plans change and I need to cancel my registration?
We sincerely hope that does not happen, but if it does, please call the Alumni Office at 877.468.1436 (toll-free). Cancellations received by October 10th receive a refund. We are sorry we cannot refund for cancellations made October 11th and after. Please note: cancellations for accommodations must be made directly with the hotel.

Where can I find information about visiting Cleveland?
To help plan your visit to Cleveland, visit the This is Cleveland site.

How do I let my classmates know that I’m coming back for the reunion?
After you’ve registered, your name will appear on the Look Who’s Coming list on our website. The list will be updated at least once a week until Homecoming.

How do I reconnect with my classmates?
Contact the Alumni Relations office to receive a class directory.

How can I get to campus for the Friday and Saturday events if I am not driving?
From the Renaissance Hotel, we will offer round-trip transportation for attendees staying at the hotel to the University for the dental school's activities. A schedule will be provided at check-in at the hotel.

Where do I park?
The Renaissance Cleveland Hotel offers  valet parking at the hotel entrance. There are also self-parking options in the area. Dental school parking is in the Health Sciences garage on the ground floor level of the school. There is a fee for each of these options.

Who should I contact if I have special needs?
Please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 877.468.1436 or regarding any special dietary needs, or indicate any special needs along with any dietary restrictions when you register.

What disability services are offered during the weekend?
All of our events and activities are considered accessible for those who may be disabled. Please advise us of any special accommodations prior to the weekend.

How should I dress?
Cleveland's weather can be a bit unpredictable and can vary widely, so be sure to bring a jacket. Business casual attire is appropriate for most daytime events. Business/cocktail attire is appropriate for evening events.

Should I bring my children?
Children are welcome at Homecoming and Reunion events although there are no specific activities planned for them. Please advise us if there will be someone under the age of 12 attending any of the meals. There may be a children's menu option available for them at a reduced price.

Are childcare services available during Homecoming?
Childcare services are not being offered.

Why should I support the School of Dental Medicine?
The School of Dental Medicine Annual Giving Fund provides essential support for the School’s highest priorities. These funds are critical to the School’s success in adapting programs to stay at the forefront of dental medicine.

Where can I find information about giving to the School of Dental Medicine?
Information about giving to the School of Dental Medicine including Annual Giving and Planned Giving can be found here.

How do I make a gift today?
You can make a gift online using the School’s secure online giving page or by calling the School’s Development Office at 877.468.1436.

Will I be able to get a wireless connection while on campus?
While on campus, you are welcome to use the CaseGuest wireless network on your device. This public network is unsecured and does not require a password for access. Because it is a public network, sensitive data is not secure.

You can help by assisting your Class Representatives and the school in finding "lost" alumni and by making the decision today to participate in the weekend, and then encouraging others to do so as well!

I have more questions, what do I do?

Alumni Association Reunion Chairperson: Lenny Weiss ‘63

The success of Homecoming and Reunion depends in large part on the active participation and commitment of Class Representatives. Reunions are typically promoted by a committee of class volunteers. In the past, classes have found that having large, active committees not only makes reunion promotion run smoothly, but also encourages more involvement in Homecoming.

The staff in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations is available throughout the reunion planning process to assist you. Their goal is to work with Class Representatives to ensure a fun and successful reunion.

To volunteer, contact the Office of Development and Alumni Relations toll free at 877.468.1436 or email

Reunion Giving Challenge!

This year, an anonymous donor is offering a dollar-for-dollar match for any alumni donation toward the School of Dental Medicine building fund.  Don’t miss this opportunity to double your reunion gift!

Celebrating your Reunion is the perfect opportunity for your class to commemorate the past and help ensure the School of Dental Medicine’s continued growth and success in the future. The Reunion Giving Challenge allows classes to join together to make a special gift in honor of your reunion. Your financial support will make a significant impact by helping to sustain the special features that make the School of Dental Medicine experience extraordinary for all students.

A Reunion Class Gift is the sum of all individual gifts and pledges (including estate plans and will commitments) made between July 1, 2013 and December 31, 2014. Our goal is to have 100% participation – gifts/pledges in any amount to any designation will count toward your class gift.

Why participate in the Reunion Giving Challenge?

There are many reasons to participate in Reunion Giving. Here are just a few:

  • You think changing the life of a student is a pretty good return on investment.
  • You know that alumni giving rates affect college rankings, and a higher ranking will make your CWRU degree more valuable.
  • You want to give back to CWRU, because CWRU has given so much to you in terms of lifestyle through your education.
  • You want your class to win the reunion giving challenge (the class with the highest amount given and/or the highest participation rate will enjoy special recognition at Homecoming).

So, the real question is: Why not participate in Reunion Giving?

Every gift matters.

For more information on the Million Dollar Building Fund Challenge or to make a reunion gift, please contact the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at (877) 468-1436. You may also make your gift online at or mail your gift to the School of Dental Medicine at 10900 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-4905.

Thank you for your generous support!
