Overview: Themes and Threads
The curriculum is designed around four themes and two threads that are integrated across the four-year program. All content is taught within those themes.
Curriculum Themes
- Health and Well-being
- Disease Processes
- Restoration of Health
- Maintenance of Health
Curriculum Threads
- Inquiry: Supports clinical decision making in dentistry. Students develop an understanding of what is evidence, how to make clinical decisions, and to value scientific discovery in all aspects of dentistry
- Professionalism: Contains curriculum for the development of students as ethical, sensitive, caring practitioners who are stewards of the oral health of the individual patient, the community, and society. It also supports the integration of all students into the practice management curriculum centered within their clinical preceptor groups.
These threads are woven throughout the four themes and across all four years of the program. They are an important part of the curriculum. Follow the links to the left to view the curriculum layouts.
