The laboratory is the center of service to the dentist and their patients. The surgical pathology report provided by the oral pathologist is often the critical element for proper diagnosis, and therefore, appropriate treatment. In almost all cases, the pathologist is able to determine a definitive diagnosis, or histopathologic diagnosis, as a sound basis for patient care. The School maintains a laboratory that meets the standards for ongoing CLIA certification by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services and is inspected biannually by the Ohio Department of Health for compliance.
